Andrew "Andy" Farrell OBE (born 30 May 1975 in Wigan) is an English rugby player.

ex-Great Britain - rugby league player.

He played rugby league for Wigan and Great Britain as a loose forward, and also captained the team before transferring to rugby union - Saracens. Farrell is considered an on-the-field leader and a superb goal kicker. His primary position at rugby league was at loose forward or in the second row, although his skills and knowledge of the game meant he was able to fill in at other positions. For example, during the 2004 season, he filled in at prop after injuries to other key players.

Andy, commonly known as ‘Faz’ is one of rugby league’s most decorated players. He won the Challenge Cup and Super League and in 1996 he became the youngest captain of the Great Britain team aged 21 years and four months. He had already been the youngest winner in a Challenge Cup final at 17 years 11 months and crowned a glittering rugby league career by being awarded the Order of the British Empire medal in 2005. He played his first representative match in the 15-a-side game for a World XV against a South African XV at the Walkers Stadium, Leicester in December 2006.

England - rugby union player.

His best position in rugby union is still being developed, but after starting his rugby union career in the forwards he has moved to the backs: it is unusual for a cross-code convert to be considered in both roles but he is considered strong enough to play in the forwards and skilful enough to play in the backs.  He won his first cap against Scotland in the RBS 6 Nations, two years after signing for Saracens in a joint deal with the Rugby Football Union in March 2005. On 28 September 2007, he scored his first try for England in rugby union against Tonga in the World Cup pool match.
